Atlantic City Boat Show Under Way

2011 Atlantic City Boat Show Brings Boats and Family Fun on February 2-6
Meet Star Deckboss Russell Newberry of TV’s Deadliest Catch
Atlantic City, NJ (February 3, 2011) -- The Northeast’s best boating event is under way at the Atlantic City Convention Center. The Atlantic City Boat Show offers a one-stop shop with hundreds of the newest and best luxury motor yachts, sport fishers, performance boats, sailboats, personal watercraft, inflatables, engines, marine accessories, electronics, fishing gear and more.

“The Atlantic City Boat Show is not only a great place to see the region’s latest boats and accessories, but a great place to hone your boating skills at a seminar, admire one-of-a-kind race boats or take a dive in a 15,000 gallon scuba pool,” says Jon Pritko, show manager. “Bring your whole family and spend the day shopping the best deals of the year while enjoying fun activities for boaters of all ages.”

In addition to hundreds of boats and marine accessories, the 2011 show offers special features and family fun, including:

NEW! Deadliest Catch’s Russell Newberry – Fan favorite deckboss and “crustacean excavator” Russell Newberry, who landed his first Bering Sea crab job at age 24 aboard the fishing vessel Diamond Head, will meet and greet fans and tell behind-the-scenes tales each day of the show. During the 2006 King Crab season, Russell landed a job aboard the F/V Time Bandit, a featured vessel on Discovery Channel's hit series Deadliest Catch. In 2009, Russell left port on the Time Bandit only to find himself returning to port on another featured vessel, the Wizard. And when Opilio Crab season was over he moved to a new vessel on the Deadliest Catch, the Kodiak, for King Crab season. Three crab vessels in one year, eight different captains and a lifetime worth of stories not to be missed!
Daily February 2-4 at 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Daily February 5-6 at 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.

NEW! Be a Diver Pool – Try scuba in our heated 20 by 30 foot DEMA "Be a Diver Pool"! Anyone age 10 and older can discover the fun of scuba diving in the comfort of a tropically warm pool. Not only can you try scuba diving for free, but you can also test some of the latest scuba equipment and have a photo of yourself taken underwater as a keepsake of your diving adventure.

NEW! Satisfy Your Need for Speed – Take a tour of the brand new Time Bandit 30-foot Phantom offshore racing boat, inspired by the extreme adventures of Jonathan & Andy Hillstrand and captained by another Deadliest Catch star, Travis Lofland (of the Wizard). Four-time World Champion offshore racing boat Miss GEICO returns to the show, a distinctive neon green catamaran missile with state of the art safety equipment and twin turbine engines. If that isn’t enough speed for you, check out the NASCAR K&N Pro Series number 84 Dangerous RED car from Jameson Motorsports, a Chevy Monte Carlo powered by a Tristar engine.

NEW! Boat Handling Clinic – Hone your boating skills by getting tips on how to maneuver a boat around docks, other boats and in various weather conditions. This 20–30 minute seminar will cover how hull design, engine style and water/wind conditions all effect the maneuvering of a boat. After the seminar lecture, you can practice your new skills on a remote-control boat in our special pool. Other fishing, boating and sailing education sessions will be offered daily.

NEW! History of Boating in America – Step back in time to admire the craftmanship and beauty of bygone eras through a display of vintage craft and memorabilia. Highlights include an 1899 Elco electric launch and a fully restored 1937 Syracuse Electric launch. Presented by Halls Boat Company of Lake George, NY and ELCO (The Electric Launch Company).

Special Sailboat Section – Returning to show this year are top sailboats from Beneteau, Jeanneau, Hunter, Com-Pac and others.

Wing-A-Thon – Think your wing eating skills are tops? Compete for great prizes at the show's Wing-A-Thon, brought to you by WMGM 103.7 The Shark and Hooters at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 5th.

Fish Tales Contest – Share your best fishing story with fellow anglers, pro fisherman and Russell Newberry. If the judges think you have the best story, you’ll walk away with some exciting prizes. Swap fish tales with pros at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 3rd.

Affordability Pavilion & Discover Boating Center
– Returning to the show is the popular Affordability Pavilion, which showcases boats for all budgets and lifestyles with pricing options that can be financed for around $250 per month. Stop by the Discover Boating Center and learn how to get started in boating or new ways to make of your time on the water.
